About Jennifer Jelich

Owner and Instructor ~Jennifer Jelich Bio:

Jelich Farms’ owner and head instructor, Jennifer Jelich, has been part of the equestrian community for more than 25 years.  Starting out as a young equestrian, Jenn knew her love for horses could turn into something bigger than the world she knew.

Jenn’s parents purchased her first horse for her at the age of 14, a four-year-old Arabian mare with 30 days of training named Sym Sym Serene. Sym was bought through one of Jenn’s mentors, Nancy Dupont of Castle Rock Arabians. Being a young green rider herself, Jenn had her hands full training Sym.  Nancy’s daughter Kathy Bick took Jenn and Sym under her wing. This is where her passion and obsession for learning to train horses and become a better equestrian began. Sym and Kathy challenged Jenn in many ways and she quickly learned that the values of hard work and dedication brought great rewards with working with young horses.

To help pay for the upkeep of Sym, Jenn, aged 14, started teaching lessons to riders of all ages and eventually help established the Castle Rock Summer Camp, which she served as camp director for 10 years.  When she left for college, she was offered an apprenticeship opportunity at Lacey’s Arabian Ranch where her position included the breaking and training green horses, tuning the training for show horses, and teaching lessons to the young riders at the farm.  After her position at the Lacey’s, Jenn continued to be full time student at Chico State University but worked with a variety of trainers in her off time including Becker Show Stables and RBC Show Horses.   During the same time, she continued to develop her horse passion and her own training by learning and competing in multiple riding disciplines, including: Hunter, Western, Saddle Seat, trail and Dressage.

After graduating from Chico University, Jenn held a finance position at Corporate Chevron for 5 years.  During this time, she continued to teach students on the weekend and train and show horses. After 5 years at Chevron she realized she wanted to turn her lifetime passion for teaching young kids to ride and training horses to her carrier. She left corporate America and Jelich Farms was born!
